چکیده

Persistent programming languages are targetted primarily at application systems involving complex data structures and relationships, as typi ed by Geographical Information Systems (GIS). The many sophisticated GIS products available today were developed before concepts like persistence and objectorientation had been well-established, and there is an urgent need to construct new GIS technology that can bene t from the advances made in these two areas of Computer Science. This will not only alleviate problems in existing GIS systems caused by the impedance mismatch, but can also expand its capabilities by providing for e ective spatio-temporal manipulation of geographic data. The popularity, accessibility and characteristics of Java make it a very attractive vehicle for this. In this paper we propose an architecture for spatiotemporal data access in PJama. We describe our prototype implementation of this architecture along with its application in a marine biology project. Initial results indicate that PJama is a viable implementation platform for spatiotemporal GIS. As our prototype nears completion we begin performance evaluation to substantiate this claim and measure the e ectiveness of PJama GIS under large, real-world application loads.

Database System Support for Spatio-Temporal Aspects in Scientific Applications

Spatio-temporal data analysis plays an important role in many scientific applications like environmental epidemiology and public health. Our approach STARS (SpatioTemporal dAtabase system Realized with Shore) integrates spatio-temporal aspects in the persistent object system SHORE [1]. STARS provides an object oriented query language to formulate spatio-temporal queries which can be processed b...

Assessment of Neonate's Congenital Hypothyroidism Pattern Using Poisson Spatio-temporal Model in Disease Mapping under the Bayesian Paradigm during 2011-18 in Guilan, Iran

Background: Congenital Hypothyroidism (CH) is one of the reasons for mental retardation and defective growth in neonates. It can be treated if it is diagnosed early. The congenital hypothyroidism can be diagnosed using newborn screening in the first days after birth. Disease mapping helps to identify high-risk areas of the disease. This study aimed to evaluate the pattern of CH using the Poisso...

Spatio-Temporal Parameters' Changes in Gait of Male Elderly Subjects

Objectives: The purpose of this study was to compare spatio-temporal gait parameters between elderly and young male subjects. Methods & Materials: 57 able-bodied elderly (72±5.5 years) and 57 healthy young (25±8.5 years) subjects participated in this study. A four segment model consist of trunk, hip, shank, and foot with 10 reflective markers were used to define lower limbs. Kinematic data c...

Evaluation of Tests for Separability and Symmetry of Spatio-temporal Covariance Function

In recent years, some investigations have been carried out to examine the assumptions like stationarity, symmetry and separability of spatio-temporal covariance function which would considerably simplify fitting a valid covariance model to the data by parametric and nonparametric methods. In this article, assuming a Gaussian random field, we consider the likelihood ratio separability test, a va...
